Sneak's Eyes Only Blog

September 2003

27th - Sneak and the family (Mrs Sneak and Sneak Jnrs) took a trip to Cuckmere Haven and the Golden Galleon. This once superb brew pub is now a travesty. The first beer went back, the second failed to be finished, the third was OK. The final pint a WJ King Red River was fine, but it didn't taste like any Red River Sneak had had before. It transpires the brewery has been sold to Harveys, the pub to the rump of the B*ss estate (M&B) while the brewer and chef have both washed thier hands of it. Should change the web-site for the pub Sneak thinks.

25th - Well the new "Good Pub Guide 2004" (not a CAMRA publication) is out and the Sportsman at Amberley gets quite a good write up even though it has just been taken over and the MOB Brew removed (now referred to as "Moved On, Bye" by the landlord - get it!). The new owner has been in the resturant trade for 25 years according to the guide and is planning on making some changes. Well Sneek is not sure that losing the MOB and pub menu in favour of the "usual suspects" and an expensive restuarant menu will go down too well with the regulars. Perhaps, Sneak thinks, that's the idea. By the way the Sportsman does go in and out of the Good Beer Guide and is currently "out".
