24th - Twickenham Beer Festival was the order of the day today and Sneak met up with some other travelling companions for the 5th event held in Twickenham - thankfully not clashing with Worthing this year. The beers sampled included the excellent Fullers Porter, Vintage and 1845 (guess who sponsered the glasses?). Some excellent beers were had from a selection of over 50 and there was no problem with the beer being too warm as those kind locals had left the doors open and turned the heating off. We managed to suffer for our art though - for at least 5 hours!
23rd - Sneak popped into to Safeway today, bottles of the 11% Belguim biere on sale (all gone now), reduced from £9.99 to £2.99 to make way for an American Stout, 35cl for £6.99 - mind though it is 21% ABV. What can we say ... Sneak thought the Beelzebub he had from France at 15% was a bit over the top.
20th - A new pub opened in the area the Swallow's Rest just off the A259 and Titnore Lane. Describes itself as a pub/restaurant. Sneak had seen this being 'converted' from an old barn but it has finally opened. While Sneak hasn't got round to going just yet those nice people over in Ferring have, and it appears that the Swallow's Rest has got the thumbs up for food ('they were queuing out of the door") and décor ("decked out very nicely") but a big thumbs down for the beer ("Just Bass"). Two out of three is not bad. But could try harder with the beer (nearly sounds like Sneak's school report).
10th - Just in - the Castle has a new 'owner'. Collin & Gayle have recently taken over the tenancy from Mr Cox and are planning some changes, but hopefully, not major ones. Special "meal deals" and happy hours are promised and the opening hours have changed so check before you go. Looks like five beers are going to be sold and our informant says these are currently Harveys Sussex, Broadside, Old Speakled Hen, Abbott and Summer Lightening. Plus an Arundel - Old Knucker. (We know that's six BTW.)
