31st - Sneak again finds himself inline for another visit to Findon! A few pints in the Ian Botham and a on to Findon. Staggering over Cissbury (literally) Sneak found himself in the same pubs as last weekend, but the beer was slightly better, perhaps it was a little later in the day? However, the last pub was the worst Sneak has been to for a while sometimes it is not just the beer that puts Sneak off a pub.
28th - Sneak stepped back in time today. The Pub of the Year was finally celebrated in the usual style - a pound a pint. Sneak even managed a small round! Well it would be rude not too.
25th - Sneak visited Findon today with #6. At least that is what was supposed to happen. An errant Essex bus driver dropped them at the right site, but failed to return for nearly three hours. What #6 was hoping to do was a quick pint or two ended up being five or six. Indeed the beer quality was not so good and a Leffe was the last drink to be ordered.
23rd - Sneak has had some correspondence with Gales Brewery recently. Sneak has been enquiring about the Woodman Arms. Unfortunately the correspondence has been one sided. Answer the mail please Gales - what is happening with the pub.
22nd - Sneak thinks there must be a conspiracy. Another brewery trip missed.
21st - Sneak was reading a free magazine he happened to pick up on the train the other day. An (unnamed) organic food company is (proudly) selling its organic (baby) food that contains only 95% organically produced food. "Ahh" Sneak thought "then surely CAMRA should accept 95% of a pint as really a pint?". Perhaps not.
19th - Sneak has been doing a little bit of research on the web and recently went to the Badger site. "Welcome" the gossip part of www.badgerales.com says "to Badger Gossip - the news centre for Badger Ales. Regularly updated this area will relay all important news on Badger Ales, events and other 'hot off the press' announcements to do with every aspect of Badger Ales and the Brewing industry." Unfortunately the last entry was July 2003. Perhaps luke warm would be a better way to describe it, or perhaps there isn't any news from our "love to hate" brewer?
18th - Sneak has come in for some criticism recently over his naming conventions. So Sneak thought a Pub Quiz would do. Question one; What sport was Mr Botham famous for? Question two; what is a baby swan called? Question three; two quarters equals what? Answers on a postcard to the usual address. A prize (to be determined by Sneak, but he does have a spare set of socks) available for the least inventive answers.
15th - Sneak found himself in The Slaughtered Lamb earlier today - it seems that most of Worthing is up for sale. Sneak was tempted to list the pubs that are not rumoured to be up for sale (because it might have been easier) but what the heck. The Alex and the Hairy Hounds are reportedly already sold and Bleak House is still on the market not having reached its target (Sneak's advice is to wait long enough so the inflation will - eventually - catch up to the asking price). Also up for sale are Rudi's, the Wig & Pen (again), the Egremount, Checkers, JBs Bar and the Two Quarters Wood. Two others are supposed to be close to being advertised, the Ian Botham and the Cygnet, but that, as Sneak says, is just a rumour.
10th - Sneak was at the South of England Show Ground today for a Vintage Vehicle Show - something the children had been looking forward to. Sneak was most pleased to find the beer tent and supped away at some excellent Dark Star IPA at only 6.2%. A wonderful beer.
3rd - Sneak was saddened to miss the Western Sussex Bus Cruise (as it is known) but saw off the Green Goddess along the Littlehampton Road - Sneak hopes it rains [not really].
2nd - Sneak heard that Big Yellow Taxi (also playing Worthing Beer Festival in October) were playing at the TAB tonight, however, Sneak decided to boycott seeing as Gales have renamed GB and lowered the strength to 3.9. Sneak wishes he worked for the marketing company that came up with this idea!
