Sneak's Eyes Only Blog

January 2004

29th/30th - Selden beer festival. Say no more! Sneak did get home - its rumoured.

19th - Sneak has heard that the Castle has a new landlord! Third in a year. Looks like this one may know what he is doing though. As Sneak hears it the number of beers are being reduced - something Sneak approves of if beer quality improves!

18th - Back from the country! Sneak met up with ten of the local CAMRA hooligans in Petworth (the excellent Star), and slowly crawled back stopping off at the Black Horse (where he bumped into the two Erics (as in Bristow and not Bristow) and a shooting party - literally), the White Hart (Stopham) and the White Horse (Pulborough) then home - Sneak's notorious hollow legs having filled, the curry crowd however continued on to the Cricketers for a few more amd then a curry.

17th - Sneak is off on a trip around a few more country pubs on the Number One bus - Sneak knows what he said about country pubs but it would be rude to stop trying! More soon.

16th - Ahhhh ... a couple of Youngs Winter Warmer at the Selden Arms, followed by a couple of Ram and Specials. Brings back certain memories for Sneak. Try it while it's there.

15th - Sneak learns that the reason the beer is off in the Castle is the landlord is as well. Or is it the other way round?

9th - Sneak 'popped out' (so to speak) to a few country pubs this evening with a few helpers. Sneak wonders what all the fuss is about. Why is CAMRA so stuck up about country pubs? Seems to Sneak the best pints and best range are to be had in town. Mind, we had a few good samples!

6th - Popped in the Castle for a pint of Harveys - Sneak wishes he hadn't. But there is another landlord on his way ... so we hear.

5th - Sneak has finally managed to recover from Xmas and New Year. Looking forward to some quiet time without a pint in his hand. However, what happens - Wassail! Following the Sompting Morris Dancers down Tarring High Street, torches a blaze, Sneak wondered how they would copy with the new owner and managers at the G&D. But only a quick song and dance and they were back to enjoy the Vine. About a hundred people joined Sneak in the 'wet' to sing to the trees and they imbibe copious amounts of Summer Lightening at the Vine, might as well continue the year in this way, me thinks!
