20th - Sneak is going on a sabatical, back in May.
19th - Sneak was pleased to hear from the 'Wizard' who had recently undertaken a crawl of some of Worthing's better pubs. The Vine, Sneak was informed, was quiet but the beer in good condition, while just down the road the Apple factor seemed to have taken hold and, while it was packed, the Deuchers was in very poor condition (but not bad enough to send back!). Following on from Tarring, Sneak's magical friend visited the Castle. Both beers spot on and the landlady was very friendly. It seems they are keen to establish themselves as a real ale pub again, after a spell under a few 'indifferent managers'. Final port of call was the Selden, what more could be said.
16th - Sneak visited the local Witherspoons [sic], and asked to try a York brewery beer - to be told that they don't offer tastings any more. No news about why. Perhaps its for the same reason they stopped using lined galsses?
14th - Against his better judgement Sneak visited Lancing. One pint of what perpetrated to be London Pride in the Farmers followed by an excellent pint of Abbott in the most expensive pub in the branch area.
13th - Looks like the week for reports as Sneak has learnt that Harveys one of the last bastions of tradition have 're-branded' Sussex Pale Ale as Long Man IPA with a green pump clip that looks remarkebly like that of the Jolly Greene Giants offering. Thanks to 'Dutch' for the report there!
12th - Looks like Sneak was right (how many times is he not?). Yates in Chapel Road is under-going a re-decoration. Closed (thankfully) for two weeks. And another thing one of Sneaks contacts has reportedly visited the Golden Galleon "Ted" reports that it was the "first time for over one year, walked straight out again. What a horrendous experience. How can the pub have been allowed to be gutted? (The old fire place for example) and where are all the real ales gone? They will never get my custom again!" Enough said.
10th - Easter, it must be time for the Red Lion Beer Festival. Looks like the Friday night revellers got a bit out of hand as there were plenty of barrels gone by Saturday lunchtime. However, Sneak and the Mrs had a great time and some of Sneak's favourite beers were consumed, as well as some Sneak has never had (that he can remember anyway).
8th - Looks like Sneak was right! After noticing the closure of Cafe Central (now looks like it is going to be re-branded as 'Eden' or something - sounds worth missing anyway) Sneak noticed that the Vintner's has been done up. Bright and cheerful on the outside, luxury seating but still only the Jolly Greene Giant's offering of IPA to tempt Sneak in (or not as the case maybe).
6th - Another article in the local rag about a pub that was down-on-its-heels. The Fletchers Arms has long had beer that Sneak thought was too cold - at least they had a real fire to warm it on. Anyway Sneak understands that there are new owners - let's find out.
1st - Sneak has heard that the Star at Petworth is under new ownership, stability at last! Andy and Kirsty promise to make the Star a pub to visit - and are looking to put on a real local or regional guest ale. If your out that way check it out. It was a really good pub the last time Sneak and Eric visited.
Email the local branch for more information.
