The Star is 300 years old and was once called the "Star of Bethlehem". From the outside, it is a pleasant clean-lined, two storey red brick buidling. The car park is to the left and the beer garden to the right. The interior consists of a variety of rooms and compartments with an extensive rear area displaying some new internal brickwork. The "Cottage Bar" faces on to the street and is cosy, with beams, flagstone floor, and rustic tables and benches. Beyond this is the carpeted "Garden Bar" with its beemed roof with old walking sticks and caneson the ceiling. Tucked away to the rear and left is the "Workshop", a small intimate area and next to this is the "Parlour", a resturant area with horse brasses and saddles. The Star was voted the Evening Argus's "Sussex Pub of the Year" in both 1990 and 1994 and was also a GBG regular in the late 1990's. Beer quality is variable though and you may have to ask to top-up your beer. Pizza's are servered (and taken away) between 7 and 9pm.
