This large renovated Victorian Hotel opened in 1898 and was called the Railway. It has since been called the Central Hotel, and later Chapmans Hotel. It is where the local branch of CAMRA was formed in 1988. It has etched window glass and stained glass lamp shades. There are large central pillars and a sunken level in the main bar. A conservatory is to the side. At the back is a patio. A nightclub is attached to the side. The beer is conmpetitively priced before 7 in the evening.
