An attractive village pub that is believed to be an old smugglers' inn, although the current pub dates from 1935. It has a spacious bar and side conservatory restaurant, the menu is written up on the blackboard and changes daily. There is a Quiz night on the last Sunday of the month. "An ever-changing selection of real ales ... excellent." After years of playing second fiddle the Five Bells was Arun and Adur Pub of the Year in 2007 and 2008.
