Arundel

Arundel is situated to the west of the branch area on the A27. The town is dominated by the castle and catedrals. Arundel centre can be accesssed by bus and train (although the station is a few minutes walk from the town itself) and the pubs in the centre are relatively close.

Apart from the castle there is also the Hiorne Tower (OS: TQ013081) built as a 'trial' for the Duke of Norfolk in 1787, a nature reserve (WWT) and a number of parks and excellent walks, in and out of town. Note St Nicolas' church has a half hour walk from nave to chancel. Check out the traders' signs on some of the houses' gable ends in the high street note the chequerboard (gunsmiths) and just down from it the anvil (blacksmiths).

Because of the tourist nature of the area the pubs can be quite expensive.
