The Worthing Pub Crawl

Assuming this is your first time in Worthing and you have arrived by public transport, we'll start at the station.

Cross the road finds you at the Grand Victorian, not bad for a first pint.

Come out of the Grand Victorian (some still call it Chapmans) and walk parrallel to the station against the traffice (its one-way). Turn right at the first junction and cross over the road at the traffice lights. At the roundabout turn left and walk down to the Jolly Brewers and then the Richard Cobden. Come out of the Cobden and continue the way you were going. At the roundabout turn left, continue along Richmond Road until you can cross by the traffice lights and turn into Portland Road.

Down Portland Road about 100 mentres is the Hare and Hounds. If you are there at the right time you can have an excellent pint and good value food. When you've finished at the Hounds. There is not much else in town. You might try the Sir Timothy Shelley (JDW) on the main "drag" where you'll find the fizzy/pop pubs.

If you fancy something where the ale is superb head back out of town the way you came, turn right at the first junction up from the Hounds and cross over at the end. You'll be heading towards Waitrose. Coss over at the lights and again at the Jack Horner corner, but turn right and head about 100 mentres to the excellent Selden Arms.

When you have finished there you can slowly head back to the station via the excellent Swan (you'll have seen that opposite the Jack Horner) and then heading back along the main road ignoring all opportunities at turning off. You'll come, after about 10 minutes to the Castle.

Head underneath the main road bridge and through the car park and you'll find yourself at the station.

If you still have room you could try the Grand Victorian again while waiting for your train home.

"Whatever you do enjoy it!"
