Arundel Crawl

The best way to do this crawl is by train or bus. Check for timings.

Walk into town from the station (past the Arundel Park Hotel) and first stop is the excellent White Hart (***) a Harveys pub just east of the town centre (note this opens at 12). Then across the bridge into the town from the bridge you can see the Swan Hotel (***) worth a stop for food or a pint of Gales. On leaving the Swan turn left and start up the hill about 100 yards on the Red Lion (**) is a basic town centre pub but the beer is good and it is the only place in Arundel where Arundel beers are regularly served.

After the Red Lion you could cross the road to the Norfolk Arms Hotel, but may prefer the walk upto the St. Mary Gate (*). Quite a large pub with many rooms. Beware the guest beers are actually Badger brews.

Leaving the St. Mary Gate turn back on yourself but immediatley right down the side of the St. Mary Gate drop down the hill and turn left at the bottom. Take the next right and down the hill (again) and you arrive at Tarrant Street and the Kings Arms (***) possibly the best real ale pub in Arundel.

When you've finished here it is back along Tarrant Street toward the centre, and on the right the Eagle (**). After the Eagle walk along Tarrant Street to the centre. Past Butler's Bar and back into town. You've covered the best pubs in Arundel but perhaps a last stop somewhere? Personally a stop at the White Hart is called for on the way to the station. Or you might try the Red Lion or Swan again whilst waiting for a bus.

"Whatever you do enjoy it!"
